Health and Nutrition Innovation Fund

The Health and Nutrition Innovation Fund (HANIF) aims to increase demand, accountability and supply of quality services in Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (RMNCH) and Nutrition. HANIF is a grant fund that aims to foster and promote simple innovations that benefit poor women and children by funding ideas that will result in long term impact.

HANIF is a subcomponent of the Empowerment, Voice and Accountability for Better Health and Nutrition (EVA-BHN) programme. Through HANIF, EVA-BHN will seek out initiatives with potential for sustainable models through a blend of competitive open calls for proposals and solicited grants. The funding will be open to all the organisations across Pakistan that meet the eligibility criteria. Projects under HANIF will only be implemented in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK).

Empowerment, Voice and Accountability for Better Health and Nutrition

Under the UKaid funded Provincial Health and Nutrition Programme (PHNP) a four year project Empowerment, Voice and Accountability for Better Health and Nutrition (EVA–BHN) has been launched to focus on Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Child Heath (RMNCH) and Nutrition services.

EVA-BHN will complement the ‘supply side’ activities under the broader PHNP framework by:

  • enhancing communities’ understanding of their health rights, entitlements and engagement in monitoring the planning and delivery of services
  • organising communities at all levels to catalyse the precipitation of desired policy charges at the local, provincial and national level.

These results will be achieved through evidence based approaches using communicative ecology, two way communication methodologies, knowledge management, and extensive action research and fostering of innovations.
